After a 12-year spell, David de Gea left Manchester United upon the expiration of his contract this summer. However, the truth about his departure and the contract offers supposedly made to the Spanish goalkeeper have been revealed by insiders. De Gea confirmed on Saturday afternoon that he will be leaving Man United, and it appears the Red Devils have chosen Inter Milan’s goalkeeper, Andre Onana, as his replacement.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Man United asserted that no official contract was offered to De Gea, while also stating that the Spanish shot-stopper was well aware of his contract situation by the end of the 2022/23 season.
Man United and De Gea mutually agreed that this is the right time for them to go their separate ways, with manager Erik ten Hag determined to finalize the contract signing with Onana from Inter Milan before the preseason tour begins.

Man United still needs to increase their proposed fee before it is accepted by Inter. However, they remain optimistic about securing a contract with the Cameroonian goalkeeper. Dean Henderson is still on Man United’s personnel list, having recently returned from a loan spell at Nottingham Forest. However, many believe he will secure an official contract with Nottingham this summer.
Third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton had his contract extended at the end of the previous season, although he is rumored to be eager for regular playing time in the final years of his career. Everton and Luton have made contact with the 37-year-old player, but without success.
